Uncomfortable: Learning When to Swerve

Do you feel stuck?
Do you feel like you do the same thing day in and day out with minimal effort or reward? Do you feel satisfied in life? Do you feel satisfied with your job or in your relationship?

More often than not we get STUCK in these cycles of comfort. Stuck in the same thinking patterns and way of life. If you’re NOT happy and NOT satisfied and NOT absolutely in love with this life – that is on YOU.
Harsh maybe, but true.
We are our own worst enemies sometimes – and for what? Because being comfortable is easy? Because feeling safe is really living? Because we are scared to fail?

FAIL! And fail BIG!!!
Without failure you cannot grow. If you do the same thing over and over again, day in and day out and then do 1 tiny little thing differently and get your hand slapped for it – then maybe that was the wrong way to swerve. The action of swerving by itself is not “wrong”, but maybe the path you chose for your swerve was.
Does that make sense? 😏

We live in this world where everyone is so scared to make a mistake. Scared they’ll lose their job, scare they aren’t enough, scared their significant other will leave, worried about what Linda in accounting is going to say when she notices you showed up 5 minutes late… Now, LISTEN LINDA 😉
We have to learn to embrace fear.
Drink it ALL in sunshine. You should be scared to try something new (or excited). You should be scared to quit your job and follow your passion. You should be scared to move across the country with no plan.
Fear does not have to hold you back though. Learn how to swerve with the fear, not in spite of it. Accept it! If you can’t overcome your fears and you know you’re going to freak out, then accept that it’s going to happen and try to talk yourself through it.

Fear is an intense feeling. It is not complacent. It does not live in the comfort zone where a lot of us get stuck.
So, question:
What is one area in your life that you need to swerve in?

Is it dating (or attempting to)? – That’s me 🙋🏼‍♀️
Is it your job?
Is it your friendships?

We all have something in our lives that could use a shake up. Something that we’ve gotten lazy at or something that is convenient but not truly fulfilling. We have way more control over our lives and our happiness than we like to think we do…
Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.

Are you going to stay put?
Are you going to quit?
Are you going to constantly repeat the same task with no reward or recognition?
Are you going to accept a dull or unfulfilling life?
Are you going to remain in a relationship that doesn’t meet your needs?
Are you going to settle? For a job you don’t love or a person whom might be the one…
Nahhhhhhhhhhh – you’ve gotta swerve!

You. Got. This.
Try to accept that uneasy feeling in your stomach (so many butterflies!) and take that fear and turn it into energy. Powerful, amazing energy.
Sometimes making a simple change, can change your entire outlook. Your happiness, your mood, your life.
You are in control. So own it.

Swerve when you need to and stay when you’re truly satisfied and gratified.
You deserve to be in love with your life. ❤

  1. I’ve definitely gotten comfortable after a good year and a half of being forced out of something. I’m preparing to take risks again
